Chapli Kabab Burger at Kababees
Chapli Kabab Burger – Meet the burger that marries American format with Pakistani tradition. The Chapli Burger features a flavorful chapli kabab patty as its centerpiece. A chapli kabab is a spiced ground meat patty that originates from Peshawar in Pakistan[9] – it’s a flat, pan fried patty renowned for its robust seasoning and unique texture (often flecked with herbs, crushed coriander seeds, chili flakes, and even diced tomatoes). Instead of a standard western beef patty, we take a freshly made chapli kabab (made from seasoned ground beef) and nestle it in a soft, toasted burger bun. This fusion is truly special: you get all the convenience of a burger, but the patty itself brings an explosion of South Asian flavor.
To build the Chapli Burger, we toast the bun lightly and spread a layer of chutney mayo or spiced ketchup on it – something with a bit of tang to complement the patty. We lay on the chapli kabab, which is typically larger in diameter than a regular patty but thinner, with crispy edges that give a lovely charred crunch. On top of the kabab, we add the usual suspects: sliced onions (a must for authenticity, as chapli kabab is often eaten with raw onion), a slice of ripe tomato, and fresh lettuce. A little mint-cilantro chutney or green chili sauce can be drizzled for extra kick (upon request), and then we crown it with the bun. A slice of cheese is optional – some purists skip it to let the kabab spices shine, while others enjoy the extra richness.
Biting into the Chapli Burger is a mouthwatering experience like no other. The patty is juicy yet has crispy edges; you’ll immediately taste bursts of cumin, coriander, and chili, balanced by the cool crunch of lettuce and onion. The bun and condiments bring it all together, ensuring that the powerful spices are tempered into a cohesive burger bite. It’s a bit spicier than your average burger – we’d rate it medium-high on heat due to the green chilies in the kabab – but it’s the kind of warmth that builds gradually and feels just right rather than overwhelming. If you love spicy food, you’ll be delighted; if you’re moderate with spice, you’ll likely still handle it fine, especially with the yogurt-based chutney or a soda on the side to cool you off.
This burger is a true representation of Kababees’ Pakistani roots. It’s our most authentic burger, often drawing the attention of foodies and those in the know. In essence, we’ve taken the famous street-food chapli kabab – something you’d normally eat with naan or on a platter – and turned it into a convenient burger without losing its soul. The Chapli Burger is filling, bold, and absolutely delicious. It might just steal the show if you’re adventurous enough to try it. Many customers say this is the burger they never knew they needed – once they try it, ordinary burgers seem boring by comparison. Give it a shot and taste the harmony of East and West in one phenomenal sandwich.
(Fun fact: “Chapli” comes from the Pashto word for “flat” – referring to the patty’s shape. We keep it true to tradition: our chapli kabab mixture includes minced beef, crushed spices like coriander and pomegranate seeds, chopped chili, and tomato, all mixed into the patty. When it fries on the griddle, those edges crisp up and the flavor is incredible. We’re proud to offer this taste of Peshawar in burger form!)
